Recognized for her beautiful timbre and stunning stage presence, soprano Angel Blue's voice has been hailed for its shining, agile upper register and "smoky" middle register. A regular BBC Proms presenter who is equally at home on the concert or operatic stage, Angel is quickly establishing herself as one of the best singers in her generation, having performed in over 35 countries in the last 6 years.
Angel has performed with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Münchener Philharmoniker, Israel Philharmonic, Wiener Staatsoper, Semperoper Dresden, Teatro alla Scala Milan, San Francisco Opera, Frankfurt Opera, and at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Theater an der Wien, Auditorio Nacional de Música, Seoul Arts Center and both Edinburgh International and Vierbier Festival.
Her operatic roles include Violetta (La traviata), Mimì & Musetta (La Bohème), Micaëla (Carmen), Helena (A Midsummer Night’s Dream),
Marguerite (Faust) Liù (Turandot), Manon (Manon), Contessa Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Giulietta and Antonia (Les Contes d'Hoffmann), Dido (Dido and Aeneas), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), and Tosca (Tosca).
Upcoming seasons include Mimì and Bess for the Metropolitan Opera, Violetta in La Traviata for the Royal Opera House, and Mimi with the Staatsoper im Schiller Theater in Berlin, Germany.
Successes of previous seasons have included performances as Violetta in La Traviata at Seattle Opera, Schumann's Das Paradies und die Peri which she sang in Rome, Italy under the baton of Maestro Daniele Gatti, and the Vier Letzte Lieder with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
As one of the special guests of Placido Domingo's colossal arena and open air concerts, Angel is equally at home in opera as she is on the concert stage. She has performed everything from Strauss's Vier letzte Lieder, Mahler’s Symphony No 2 and Verdi’s Requiem to concerts with Alfie Boe, Andrea Bocelli, and Grammy Award winning "Hit-man" David Foster. Angel made her Royal Albert Hall debut as a featured guest at the "Classic FM Live" concert in April 2015.
Ms. Blue's television appearances include the BBC Songs of Praise, BBC Breakfast Morning Talk Show, BBC Cardiff Singer of the World, and she is a regular host/presenter for the BBC Proms. In 2014 she was the subject of Melvyn Bragg's "South Bank Show: Angel Blue", and in addition, was a guest judge for the "Choir of the Year Competition". Angel released her first solo album "Joy Alone" with Opus Arte which reached the highest ever chart position for any Opus Arte release to date.
Ms Blue was a finalist in Operalia 2009, receiving 1st place in the Zarzuela competition, and 2nd place in the Opera competition. Angel received a Masters of Music degree in Opera Performance from UCLA, a Bachelors of Music from the University of Redlands, and is alumni to the prestigious Los Angeles County High school for the Arts. She is also a graduate of the Palau de les Arts Young Artist Program in Valencia, Spain and the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute, University of Montreal in Montreal, Canada.
Angel is the founder of the organization "Sylvia's Kids Foundation." A foundation that gives a scholarship award to support an inner city high school senior graduating and continuing their studies at a trade school, community college, or four year university.
